Ingredients
3 lbs honey crisp apples
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon butter, cut into cubes
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 300° F. Peel and core apples and cut into 8 wedges. Place in a baking dish and add the remaining ingredients. Stir to coat the apples thoroughly.
  2. Bake for 3 hours, stirring every hour. After 3 hours remove from oven and heat oven to 400° F. Stir the apples and mash with a fork or potato masher.
  3. Place back in the oven and cook for an additional 30 to 40 minutes to let the mixture caramelize and thicken. Remove from oven to cool.
  4. Transfer to a storage container or puree to desired consistency.
